Yesterday was my first class in Songwriting Level 2, a continuing education course offered at the University of Saskatchewan (link (http://www.uscad.usask.ca/songwriting)). This semester it is being facilitated by Jay Semko (http://www.jaysemko.com) of The Northern Pikes (http://www.thepikes.com) fame... very cool! Lots of talent in this small class (only 6 of us) so I hope some of it will rub off on me :D
I'm learning a lot about the craft of writing and am trying to build up a catalogue. I'll try to get something posted here one day, but I'm having issues on the recording side (my laptop is, for all intent and purposes, dead).
I don't want to restrict myself to any particular genre, but am leaning towards a more acoustic, rootsy vibe lately so we'll see what happens.
I presented one song that I wrote about 20 years ago and I'm going to dust it off and see if I can make it better. Feedback was very positive, so I'm encouraged by that.
Coming soon to a coffeehouse near you... :AOK:
