Since the P90 thread strayed in the horizontal guitar category, I thought we might have some examples here. First up, Mr. Dave (Lindley, that is) rocking on what looks like a Fender Dual Professional in 1982.

My current setup is almost exactly what it was 20 years ago. I play the aforementioned steel built, designed and engineered by Larry Hilt. It's a double-twelve monster with 10 on the floor and 14 under, most of which operate both necks. Yeah, E9th & C6th, nothing terribly unusual there. This guitar is simply the best thing I've used in my lifetime.
I've seen Buddy live many times - he's something else.

David Lindley's lap steel work with Jackson Browne in the 70's was a highlight of many of Browne's tunes. One fine example is 'Runnin' On Empty'...In this live version from 1977, check out Lindley working the solo at around 2:05, then at around 4:00, jumping on to close out the last minute or so. In between those hot spots, his comping is just right-on target.

Iv e got this 50 s Framus Electra that sound nice with some good amp OD..

A white ceramic p90 is in there ,sounds big ..

Lindley has always amazed me. One of those guys that if it's got string, he can probably play it and play it great. Love his work on "Running on Empty" and what a tight and right band.

Not to get to far off track, but his work on these has been on my radar for a while. I know, acoustic. :thwap:

I have most of his solo albums and have seen him live 6 times in the last 15 years. He always puts on a great show. 5 of the 6 times he was playing acoustic instruments: lap steel, oud, saz, bazouki, etc. That video posted was pretty typical of recent performances. He was using an Ashley instrument preamp and a Roland JC-120.

The one time I saw him playing electric was with Jackson Brown, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, and Shawn Colvin at Red Rocks Ampitheater. I couldn't make out the lap steel he was playing, but the amp looked like a Blackface Fender Bassman. It didn't sound like a Bassman though, way too much gain. In fact, I'm sure it was modded by Dumble, because it sounded like a Dumble amp.

I love the sound of a lap steel; especially when it gets a little bit "greasey". I saw Lindley with Jackson Browne in 1978 in Philly. Lindley was awesome. Yeah, gotta get me a LAP and learn how to play it.
