Hello to everybody!
I descovered this forum when I saw Robert's clips and after searching in deapth his site...
I must say this: Robert you are a great guitarist with a great tone!

So, after seeing this clips, I decided to get a Squier 51 guitar...But I would like some help:
1) I would like to have a tone pot. Is that a difficult mod to do? Can someone tell me what to do?
2) I plan to replace the stock tuners probably by vintage type (Kuson) ones. Do you know the tuner holes diameter?

Thanks in advance,
Elias (GREECE)

Welcome to the site, man! :D

I'm also a Squier '51 player, but nowhere as talented as Robert. About the mods:

1) You would need to add some sort of switch on the control plate. That would involve drilling the switch hole, and wiring the switches that go from the current pickup selector to that switch. You can get the 51's wiring diagram by clicking here (http://www.squierguitars.com/pdf/diagrams/0325100-wiring.pdf). Wiring the switch should be easy...the scarier part is drilling the control plate! But it can be done--I did it to my Tele to add a fuzz circuit. Just be careful and measure twice (thrice!) before drilling. To add the tone pot in the proper way, I'd refer maybe to a Telecaster wiring diagram like this one here (http://www.squierguitars.com/pdf/diagrams/SquierTELE0310202.pdf).

2) I have no idea about this one, since I'm at the office...

You'll enjoy your Squier. I love it!

Welcome, Elias! We're getting to be quite the international community here on TheFret...

I don't know anything about wiring a '51, and don't own one, so I couldn't tell you about the tuner hole size, BUT,

if Robert and our knowlegeable members can't help you, here's another resource to check out: http://www.instituteofnoise.com/squier51/forum/default.asp .

It's a forum for people who have been bitten by the bug to modify the '51...

Good luck!
