My guess is that they're closing them out. The XLs are the more hi-gain version of the ADxxVTs. I think the VTxx series has supplanted them.

I see what you are saying Marnold, I know the VOX 50VT is very nice sounding but I haven't tried this model-I'm not into a lot of distortion.

The XL series does have some of the clean models from the AD series, but it adds a bunch of high-gain amps and, of course, the black cheese grater. Sounds like you'd be better off trying the VT series. I'm going to have to take my guitar down to Green Bay one of these days and try one of those VTs out. The problem is that I might like it!
