I was doing some work on my DST-2, and I guess I wasn't very careful, dropped the neck on some stuff around the house I guess.

Frickin the 4 frets closest to the bridge are dented or pushed down. It causes it to fret out with any kind of low action, and even medium to high it will fret out if you bend.

See pics; any way to fix this fairly cheaply? Guitar is only worth maybe 200, and I have more then one. Necks are hard to find for this .

What is the least amount of tools I could do this with? I don't have a ton of money into it so I am thinking of DIY. I have other guitars that could benefit from fret work if I end up geting the tools. BUt prefer to do this as low cost as possible but still done well.

Pics aren't focused enough to tell how bad the frets are.
The "photo essay of a level & crown" thread may help if you're willing to buy the tools and follow the instructions carefully. Dreadman did an excellent job documenting it. It's here..........

If you undertake this job, you need to follow directions and use caution.
Don't say I didn't warn you!:poke:

A quick question. What are you guys paying for a decent fret dressing?
I recently had a Gibby knock off done and it made a world of difference. The guitar was 400 Can (about 330 U. S.). I paid 100 for the work. (78 US).
How does that compare to the US?

There's local store that specializes in repair services and the buying & selling of used instruments. They mostly deal with acoustics, but do handle electrics. I haven't used them, both they have good word of mouth with the folks I've talked to. I'm most likely going to get my 36 year old acoustic worked on for some minor repairs and a setup.

Fret Dressing: $50-$75.00

Partial Refret w/o binding: $ 9.00 per fret - with binding: $ 11.00 per fret

Complete Refret w/o binding: $150.00 - with binding: $175.00

Set Up (Acoustic): $45.00 - (Electric): $55.00

*electric instruments-price may vary
**prices subject to change due to material costs
This is in central Vermont - the place is in Montpelier.

That would be about the same. I found out that the shop doesn't do the fret dressing. They have an actual Luthier who does it. They probably tack 25 bucks handling fees and it comes to 100.
The set ups are a lot better at 35 bucks plus strings. And the job is excellent.
