I was trying to get some decent clips from new SQuier Vitage Modified Tele but the quality of the recording wasn't there. I have a mic that I sat in front of the amp and played some chords and riffs but the sound just didn't have quality to it. I might have to get a different mic, the sound was very low and it seemed like it was muffed.
Any suggestions??

A bit more info would help. What other hardware were you using? The classic guitar recipe is an SM57 just kissing the grille pointing straight at the speaker but slightly off centre.

What mic are you using Street?

Street, I'm at the camper, and don't have Audacity loaded on this laptop, but look at the top of the screen for the input/volume faders, that makes a huge difference in volume. There's also a place (can't remember where) you can choose the input to your sound card. If all else fails, read the directions online. It's in there somewhere. It takes some work, but it's a fairly simple learning curve compared to a lot of other programs.
Good luck!:)

Desktop mics are completely inadequate for this type of thing--you really need a decent audio-quality mic for recording instruments. While the "standard" is the Shure SM57, they run about $90 - $100 new, and you can get reasonably close performance for much, much less. I've had good luck with one of these for $20:

Behringer XM8500 (http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-XM8500-Microphone?sku=270490)

I might have to look into one of those since I get less-than-adequate tone out of my AD30VT's line out, especially now that I replaced the speaker.

DVM , how would I hook that mic to my computer? I don't have a Line 6 UX1 , I'm just plugging a mic into my PC on the rear input panel.

That's too much $$$$ for just home recording. I'm a working man, not rich like STRUM

How about one of these:

They use the Lexicon Omega interfaces at the college I go to, this is the smaller one with only one XLR input, enough for recording guitar though.
