Trent Reznor has set a milestone with this. I have first read about it in a German Metal Magazine and the idea just blew me away. When everybody was complaining about down going sales and when the lament was getting louder and louder, little Trent took the initiative and was successful.

I think because of the creative nature of artists we are going to see more unique efforts to continue business. The business folks proved that they aren't creative enough to adapt or support their golden eggs so why let them continue to hold those positions? If we can just keep the bean counters out of the picture musicians might actually be able to make a living doing what they do. Artists = ingenuity.
