I have tried many over the years and haven't found one that I truly like. Too fizzy, or too muddy, not enough gain. I want a smooth, creamy, saturated, singing, musical distortion...not just crunchy gain.

I tried the Digitech Hardwire Valve Distortion and like the saturated setting, but the crunch setting I found useless.

Currently, I am using the Hardwire Tube Overdrive for all my OD needs and goosing it with a compressor for more saturated tones. This is my favorite OD of all time...the voicing is perfect for me...very unique.

Anyway...any suggestions? This would be mainly for fusiony lead work...not so much for chording.

I'm sure a lot of it is in the hands. I mean, if say, Robert and I played the same pedal, his would sound far superior to mine.

What are you using for amplification?

Cool Cat Distortion maybe? Or Maxon SD-9?
