What do you think?
The gold one sort of becomes the focal point, the black one makes the red pop.
Thoughts?

I'm kind of surprised to say that I think I actually like the gold better in that context.

I think it's the flow with the maple neck. I'm undecided, plus I can't locate a black pearloid pickguard at a decent price (GFS pricing).

I vote gold. I think the black/grey guard makes the guitar look kind of gloomy.

I like the gold, and agree that it's the flow with the neck - and just more pizzazz than the black.

Well in my opinion I like the gold it goes really well with the neck contrasting with the red body and the black plastic/hardware/and pups pop off of that.

I've been waiting for you to chime in. I know you have a soft spot in your heart for Strats and I figured it was only a matter of a short time before I heard from you.

I am going with the gold in this context. Flows well, pops well, and is just different than many you see.

I like the black. It goes well with all the other black items....the gold...not so much.

It surprises me a little to say, but for me it's gold without hesitation. I just find that combination more visually appealing.

Between those 2 choices, chalk up another vote for Gold, as that's what I see, too. Also pops all the black hardware on the body instead of burying it.
Any thought to not-pearloid....like Creme w/ black/c/b edges?

I thought about that also. Right now it's staying gold, but in the future...

Definitely gold. The pickups are already black so putting a black pickguard on as well is overkill IMHO. But then, you should go with whatever YOU prefer. After all, it's YOUR guitar.

for now it is staying gold.
Someone had suggested black and sent me the photo shop pic with black, but looking at it some more I like the gold.
I think it was the idea of an inexpensive mod to take away the growing gas for another guitar - it wouldn't have worked.
