There's a big Crate V series thread a little way down the amps and cabs forum. They're just another PCB based mass produced valve amp. I don't know what they'd be like for metal. They seem to be voiced more for blues and classic rock.

P. O. S. when it comes to the gain channel... ;)

But the clean channel is fine.

If you're going to go for a Crate head, get the V32 Palomino or one of the old V30 Heads (made in USA by St. Louis Music).

I used to really like Crate amps, but it seems that since Loud Technologies took over and shifted the production to Vietnam, the quality and tone has been an issue for sure. I hate to slam Crate because they've been around for a while, but Loud technologies really ruined a good product.

The Blackheart amps however, are another story....very good amps in my opinion.
