After our show at the end of April went well with a new drummer, the kids (my 18-year-old bassist and guitarist) got stoked for playing again, so I was about to look into getting some more shows, when one fell into my lap. Got an offer from a touring band to play support at my fave local club.

The touring band is Boston's Swaggerin' Growlers, who play "riot folk" with Celtic influences in the vein of Flogging Molly, the Pogues, and Dropkick Murphys. I really like that genre and Crash Pad does an homage to Irish music in our set ("Irish Eyes," our rocked up version of when "Irish Eyes Are Smiling"), so I'm hoping I can get a couple Growlers to sit in with us on that song, it'd be boss to hear it with fiddle, accordian, and penny whistle.

My daughter is a big Flogging Molly fan, and school will be out by then, so I'm hoping I'll be able to take my kids to the show-- have to see what the club's policy on underagers accompanied by parents is (obviously the kids in the band are "working" so that's not a prob). Fortunately I'm on real good terms with the club, there's only 4 or 5 people on staff there and one (the sound man) and I used to be in a band together, while another two are in a band that's been on the same bill with Crash Pad many times over the last 9 or 10 years. So that place is like playing with family.

Here's a flyer I made up based on one of the Swaggerin' Growlers' logos:

I got my bassist's band an opening slot too, so it should be a real fun show. Wished some of y'all lived in the G-V-L. Obviously, there will be pics. Maybe even some audio or video.
