Favorite instructional guitar DVD?

Which is your favourite (US. spelling in title only!) Instructional Guitar DVD?

It doesn't matter what level or style it's at, beginner - intermediate, rock guitar, acoustic guitar, etc. I think thread could become a good resource for people looking for instructional guitar DVD suggestions.

Personally, I love Scott Henderson's Jazz Rock Mastery (http://www.amazon.com/Scott-Henderson-Jazz-Rock-Mastery/dp/0739045067) but it is quite advanced and I don't recommend it unless you already know all your scales and arpeggios and chords. If you do, however, there is enough in this DVD to keep you busy for years.

I have also seen some good beginner DVDs by Keith Wyatt (http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&search-alias=dvd&field-keywords=Keith%20Wyatt), who is a wonderful instructor. I can't remember the titles of those DVDs, but I suspect any DVD with Wyatt would be a great choice.

Agree with you on Wyatt. I had a blues CD-ROM from him that unfortunately I can't use anymore because it won't run on any modern OS. My favorite DVD series is Metal Method (http://www.metalmethod.com/). One of these days I'm going to get the 2007 revision of the course. It looks like Doug put in some very helpful additions and made it at bit easier for beginners.

Geez, Robert, I hate to go on abt the Guitar World Store's instructional DVDs, but they are quite good. They offer anything from beginner to intermediate to advanced. And no, despite GW's metal leanings, these are strait up, non-metal lessons, unless you want metal lessons - they have a few specific to that genre.

Just yesterday I rcvd an email that they've strung together Richard Lloyd's numerous lessons (exclusively for GW), from beginning thru advanced on one 2 hour DVD called "The Alchemical Guitarist". Lloyd is a fantastic, albeit very strange dude, guitar player. Some might be familiar w his work from over the years. His best work, in my opinion, was on Matthew Sweet's iconic "Girlfriend" CD from the early 90s (dueling w the late Robert Quine).

Your own discs, Robert, are also good, of course! I prefer to get my info from different sources and guitarists, to develop my own sound and style by combining differing techniques, rather than lock in to just one source or teacher. :rockon:

(GW has also recently announced a new mag, "Guitar Aficionado" - "for the high-end luxury/vintage guitar collector and investor." Available on the GW online store - don't know if it's avail at your local magazine rack...This mag looks REALLY interesting!)

I've been liking some off the internet(that's how I found this place through Dolphin street)Robert stuff is great,he takes time to show it at speed,slowed down and the all important fingering,cause I almost always end up fingering it my way after I learn it the way he does it.GW with Andy Aledort is great also,and I have some Hot Licks with Arlen Roth,Warren Haynes and Ronnie Earl.There is actually too much stuff and not enough time.I have been trying to focus in one area I like so I can advance more.Sumi:D

I hear that, Sumi! It can be overwhelming! I digest a little at a time til I get it down, then on to the next bit...My focus is on lead guitar, and I'm finding it has many more plateaus than rhythm or bass did for me - maybe it was just easier for me to learn when I was younger...?

Still, it's nice to have goals, and this is a nice goal to have! :)
