Though I have several I could contribute I'll keep it to one. This is my 1992 Gibson Les Paul Studio. It was my first good guitar. It started out life with black paint and gold hardware. After ten years of play the paint was not holding up well so I stripped it off and finished it with several coats of tung oil which I buffed in with ultra fine steel wool.

This is my only nat. guitar. (I am the one on the right with the hair sticking out the back of my hat. It was a Christmas performance I showed up to after skiing and just threw a hat on.) Pretty basic, but it was my first. That is my first guitar instructor there too with his D-35 that he plays beautifully with his thumb pick and fingers. IMHO, mahogany is not the prettiest of all woods for a natural finish guitar. Not as pretty as, say, flame maple or the like. Still, not an ugly guitar, I suppose.

My el-cheapo Dean Vendetta. Surprisingly, it plays pretty well and the pickups aren't half bad either. I have a little trouble switching to it because of the scale length after playing my LP.

This one is getting a make-over in a month or so. New paint and hardware with maybe a pickup swap.

Is it an optical illusion due to light reflection or is that wrap-around bridge not compensated at all?
If so, is there no method to adjust for intonation?

I'm puzzled by this too. That isn't a bridge at all, only the tailpiece.

Well, that one does look like just the tailpiece part of a tailpiece & bridge assembly, but they do make a one-piece wrap-around tailpiece but it is not smooth... usually has a molded compensated bridge-ridge or adjustable saddles.

That tailpiece is not compensated just like the ones on LP Juniors.

That's how the original wrap tailpieces on Gibsons were.

I have one on my LP Studio Doublecut (above pic). No sliders, no waggles. You can adjust the overall angle the bridge sits at (via sideways adjustments off the posts), but that's it. It surprisingly really hasn't been a problem. I just got mine out to double-check, since it'd been quite awhile since I played it. Sounds fine all the way up.

Anyone remember the Leo Quan Badass bridge from the 70s? A cross between the tailpiece and a TOM like the one Rocket pictured above. I had one on my Jacobacci JS2. It was a pain to restring as the bridge sat right up against the back pickup ring.

Brian, I didn't realize the Wildkat was a tint versus a solid white. Does it have the low key stripes or grain like the others? My black one doesn't pick up the stripes in photos, but can be seen when guitiar is in hand.

looks like the newer gibson SMARTWOOD les pauls, just as expensive as the normal les pauls, but with no paint and made of some weird polymer wood.

really nice to play though, it just has something that the bulky-as regular les pauls dont.

want some smartwood?
