I picked up a new Valve Junior cab to sit undery my heavily modded VJ head thus completing my practice rig:

For clean, I just play through the amp with no FX. For distortion, I use an MI Audio Tube Zone. I can get nice metal tones out of it. I plugged both into my DOD A/B box. :dude:

Nice pair! :D

I get a kick out of how the Blackheart's head and cab dimensions are identical to the VJ. Not much question what the target was, market-wise!

Just got done with my first practice session using the VJ and BH stacks. The DOD A/B box is a no go. Serious ground loop problems. :reallymad:

I bought the BH cab empty a while back. I had a cheapo Carvin Celestion copy that I put in it. It sounds much better than the VJ cab :( The VJ cab sounds kind of boxy. The BH cab has a more scooped sound which leads me to believe the Carvin speaker is a copy of the G12T-75. The BH is a better metal amp and the VJ will probably be a better dirty blues amp. The BH sounds great clean, very acoustic.

I scared the crap out of myself, though. I didn't have the BH head plugged into the cab. Luckily, I don't think I fried the OT. :dude: However, I'm thinking of replacing the stock OT with a Heyboer from Allen Amps.

Anyway, I was working on "B*tch School" by Spinal Tap, "Love Stinks" by J. Geils, "Pull the Plug" by Death, "Mob Rules" by Black Sabbath, and "Balls to the Wall" by Accept.

Sorry, just a little free associating here :D

i eliminated the boxy sound problem with a 4x12 :D

a Celestion G12 loaded 4x12 :D:D

look for an EHX switchblade also.

about £30 (so around 50-60 dollars). about the best A/B box there is unless you want to spend alot of cash.

Any recommendations? The ET65 looks cool. As does the 12" British Lead.

Barbie? Those amps are as at least as manly as the Jonas Brothers. :rotflmao:

I have a Veteran 30, their Vintage 30 clone, in my own 1x12 cab and it sounds great. And I've had an eye on one of those Reaper models for a while...

All that I need now is a pink Hello Kitty guitar and my rig will be complete:

Thanks for the tip on the Veteran 30 speaker (http://warehousespeakers.com/proddetail.php?prod=veteran30_12) as an alternative to the Vintage 30. That might be the way I'll go when I upgrade my EVJ cabinet.
