I have the Jeff Beck DVD "Live at Ronnie Scott's" and I could never make out the name on the headstock of Tal's bass. I Googled "Tal Wilkenfeld" and found this. She plays (and endorses) Sadowsky instruments. New to me, high-end and not cheap.

Their six-strings are something I would definitely go after if $ were no object (click the link to Sadowsky on the page). If they're good enough for the next incarnation of Jaco, and she could play ANY bass she wants, that's a ringing endorsement of a fine guitar to my ears! Here ya go:

Sadowsky is a name that most guitarists have never heard of but it's a HUGE name in the bass world. The only guy that I know uses Sadowsky guitars is Walter Becker of Steely Dan fame. By the by, I like what one of the bullet points is for his guitar: "Special Walter Becker Mojo included!"

I've heard that they are wonderful, albeit expensive, instruments. My only gripe is that they are mostly just Jazz bass copies. Very nice Jazz bass copies, mind you, but Jazz bass copies nonetheless.

Rev, I've always been partial to the "off the beaten path" names, as long as they're a good, quality instrument or amp (or pedal). Stuff that not everybody and his brother owns...

Hence my Peavey and Taylor and Swart propensity. I love Hartley Peavey's, Bob Taylor's and Michael Swart's business philosophies: true lovers of music and maverick builders who refuse to sell out to the huge umbrella companies like Gibson and Fender...

I guess it's the maverick in me. Always had it and always will. :D

I'd LOVE to try out a Sadowsky six string solidbody. Might be that ONE guitar that's worth selling off many (or all) of my beloved axes for! Who knows...then again, it might not. They're certainly not carried by any dealer anywhere near close to me.

I'll file it away for possible future consideration. Sometimes "time" is the only answer, eh. "Sometimes to keep it together you gotta leave it alone"...I've found that the older I get, the truer that lyric is...

Sadowsky is another of those, I'm glad they exist, but I'll probably never be able to afford kind of guitar makers.

There are a bunch in that category.

Yup, us old deadheads are quite familiar with Alembic guitars.

Wanna buy me one? :D
