The Guitar Hero/Rock Band battle wages on mercilessly, with innovation after innovation, but if you were wondering what the motivation behind all the add-ons, DLC and pop group tie ins was, we now know: sales of both series have crashed, with revenues dropping almost 50 percent in a year.

its because it inspires kids to pick up a real guitar, and then they never go back to games again. If a kid plays on his friends GH he gets the bug, buys a real guitar and never looks back.

i know too msny people who play guitar solely because they played GH.

Well, there hasn't been a new Rock Band out yet. It'll be interesting to see if the new Beatles version can breathe some life into the franchise(s). We'll see if they are going the way of DDR or not.

I personally really like guitar hero, I think it's pretty fun especially singing or on the drums.

though there are those people who take it way to seriously *I can play "insert hard song" on expert* and blah....
