in the musical comedy show 'Part Troll', Bill Bailey uses some kind of orchestral backing effect, which takes the form of some kind of expression pedal. At first i thought maybe a digitech expression factory but then i remembered the expres. factory has a synth but no orchestral backing. heres the clip, he uses the effect while he plays the first parts of Stairway to Heaven, somewhere about 6 minutes. The comedy is good, so you might aswell watch the whole clip

:D

It looks like he's got a Roland Guitar Synth set up on his guitar. They're pretty fun, but they suck if you play very percussively.

There's a pickup that you throw right by the bridge and each note you play per string triggers a midi signal.

I tend to mute the strings I don't play, but still hit them percussively, which would cause this thing to glitch every time I hit a note.

"Dancin with me - beard to beard" :rotflmao: I have water coming from my eyes.

Roland Guitar Synth is my guess too. I didn't know they would track well on an acoustic though.

Roland guitar synth. They ought to track the same whatever you use to drive them as the signal comes from the Roland pickup you can see down by the bridge. Bill Bailey is a national treasure.

"you pick me up from school, you attend all my sporting functions. you bought me a car, gave me use of a credit card. But how can i feel pain, how can i feel pain, how can i feel pain, when your being so supportive."

thats the underlying meaning of every emo song ever. rather self pitying whine to it.

are there any regular effects processors digital or analogue that can get some similar effects? is the digitech expression factory any good?

The Digitech EX7 has a cool synth swell to it. I recorded a crappy little demo of it earlier last week.

Another cool effect I'm looking into is the "Octo Verb" on the Line 6 Verbzilla. I ordered one and am currently waiting it's synthy arrival.

Do a search on YouTube for the Line 6 Verbzilla and check out the Octo Setting.
