All the Spuds will be heading to the Idaho wilderness for a week on the 4th. You can locate us at or around 44 01'54.20" N 114 5'16.40" W (Cramer Lakes basin) if you have Google Earth. It's south of Stanley Idaho in the Sawtooth mountains.

No TV, no cars, no electricity, no noise, no pressure and lots of peaks to climb. Lots of lakes and fish and rocks and trees. Nice and simple the way it was intended. Little Spud picked the location when she saw it last year from the peak she climbed. We'll be celebrating her 11th birthday on Sunday. Kind of a neat way to spend a birthday eh.

We are going to make a stop to visit Sunvalley Law on our way through town just to make sure he's got calluses on his fingertips and his guitar is in tune.

I'll be gone until the 17th so I'll post some photos after I get back.

Thanks.
This is the basin we'll be in. If you look between the two lakes you can see the white of a 20 foot waterfall. We'll try to get on some of those peaks. There are many more outside the shot.

As advertised, SpudSteve and Ms. Spud and Spudette stopped by my office on their way through Ketchum to Redfish Lake where they will take a shuttle across and start hiking. Always fun to see the Spuds and I had not done so since last fall when I went over to pick up my Hagstrom. My guitar (Strat) at home was in tune thank you, as I tuned it and played this morning before work. It could use new strings though. The Hagstrom was at work with good strings, but I am not sure if it is in tune as I have not had it out at work this week.

He did not tune, nor restring, either guitar. ;)

P.S. I am the one in the tie, he is the one dressed like a tech fiber pirate. :D

The whole gang made it back okay. :)

The weather wasn't as cooperative as we would have liked. Apparently around the state things got pretty ugly with tornadoes, hail, high winds, rain etc. SVL probably knows more since we were isolated.

Summiting didn't happen on the day I planned, or at all, due to the weather. I was hoping to do it after the first day at camp while the girls rested from the trek in. The weather had other plans.

The summit I was going for is on the right - this is the day we arrived

Before on summit attempt day

The reason I finally turned back (it felt like more was on the way)

And finally - after the first storm

Glad you made it home safe, the pics aren't coming though my firewall here at work, but it sounds like everybody had a good time, despite the weather. I could really use a week of isolation myself right about now.

Lol. We looked for the Yeti but didn't see it. Actually there is a ton of mountain goat sign all over but we looked and looked and couldn't find any goats. However, in the Beartooth mountains they come right up to you. Very friendly critters.

This is from a Beartooth trip. It's like they want to move in with you.:)

Youbetchya. Your place or mine? I don't have bears to deal with if that helps you decide and September will work good for me.
