I am looking for a small (10-30W) acoustic amp. I am looking at an Ibanez Troubadour T20, an Alesis Coolfire 15, and a Crate 15W model. What are your recommendations please? Thank you.

The Crate 30 is a great one and you can pick them up on ebay around a $100.

Never had an acoustic amp, but Behringer seems to be one that pops up during acoustic amp discussions

Behringer, Crate, Marshall AS series (unsure of the wattage on those)

Even though you say small is 15-30W, the 3 you mention are all in the 15-watt range. That tells me you're budget is $100-$150. Not sure what your needs are -- practice or gig-worthy:whatever:

If it's practice at-home, 15W will do. I'm not familiar with those 3, although I had a smaller (10W) Ibanez Troubador briefly (it was OK, I guess) but I've noodled on one of these at my local store, and I think fellow fretter luvmyshiner has one:
Behringer Ultraacoustic 108 (http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-BEH-AT108-LIST)
Behringer is poo-pooed as crapola by many gearsnobs, but for decent clone gear at budget-conscious prices, or for those just getting started, much of their stuff is hard to beat. That thing is only $70...If you hang with it, and save on the side, you can always upgrade later.

But if you want to play out, you need at least 30W. Minimum. Again, this Behringer is decent, and under $200. Still, just an 8" speaker, but more power and frills:
Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 (http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-BEH-ACX450-LIST)

What's the best 30-watt acoustic amp, though? Might be this Fender, but it will break your budget:

Glad you posted this, Terry. I'm also looking for an acoustic amp, although not in a hurry to get one. This one (http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Kustom-Sienna-30-30w-1x10-Acoustic-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=480788) looks like it might be promising. Let us know which one you end up with, and how you like it!

Does anyone know anything about the Laney LA35C acoustic amp? Its 'big brother' LA65D was well-though-of in 'Guitar Buyer' - what about the 35W version, anyone? Thanks again.

I finally settled on an Ibanez Troubadour T35 (at a great sale price). If anyone is interested, I'll let you know how it is. Thanks again for all the great advice.

I would have suggested a Genz Benz Shenandoa Jr.

Good luck with your choice! Let us know what you think.

I have a Randall RG25RXM 25 watt amp.

I play both acoustic and my Les Paul through it.

I got it used for $80. I love it.

I play "out" with it and it does fine, but I never play really HUGE venues.
