I was going to add an opening joke, but on second thought.... nah. ;)

The giant hole is actually a diamond mine in Eastern Siberia near the town Mirna. It is 525 meters deep and 1.25 km in the diameter.

That's HUGE! It would take a lot of pancakes to fill that one.
I thought the thread was going to be about some sleazy politician or something.:D

I remember visiting Utah many years ago and toured a cooper mine there that claimed to be the biggest hole in the ground.

Then there is the Berkley Pit mine in Butte Montana which is probably the biggest most toxic hole in the world.

I read up on the Berkely Pit, interesting situation. Very bad water in there!
