Seriously, I'm a lifelong Beatles fan and never before saw this picture.
Anyone know anything about it?

Pre-Hamburg, Pre-Cavern days no doubt?

Wife and I were driveing USA's Route 66 and bumped into McCartney at a little diner in Oklahoma.

He was with a fine lady.
I rarely talk to celibs, and I didn't this time either, they get enough disturbance in their lives, but it was amazing seeing him in person.

Downing a big pate of flapjacks, the owner of the diner knew who she was serving, her kids working there had no clue.

Wow. George looks like he's about 15.

He is.

The photo is of The Quarrymen in Liverpool in 1958 George born Feb 43). They were still acoustic, soon to go electric. George with a Hofner President, John, probably not quite 18 with his Gallotone Champion and Paul, about 16, with a Zenith Model 17.

The guitars are described in detail in Andy Babiuk's 'Beatles Gear', and that's what I pulled off the shelf to peg the photo's place & time.

In Anthology, don't have the book or cd's, just the DVD set, there's actually some recordings of them at this seminal stage with these guitars, doing Buddy Holly and an early Lennon-McCartney tune.

The guy on the right? not sure.
