Wife wants to wrap a surprise birthday gift to one of the kids.
Any suggestions on a good pedal?

I'm heading out to get it in about 3 hours.

Thanks for any takes.

You have not given any parameters for what effect you are interested in, but I am going to go with my old standby for first pedal: Digitech Bad Monkey. A very versatile overdrive pedal that is pretty economical, and if you have time to buy used, darn cheap.

Bad Monkey, either of the Cool Cat drives, Boss SD-1. All no nonsense OD pedals that get the job done with a minimum of fuss and cost.

Boss RC-2 Loop station.

- Record basic loops to play scales over at any speed WITH drum beats.
- You can hear mistakes better enabling more improvement.
- Helps Timing out of this world.
- Acts as a guitar teacher - record what you want them (at any speed or start slow and make it faster) to learn and they can play along

Hope I caught ya in time! LOL
