One of my friends had a couple of free tickets to see Wynton Marsalis's big band last night. I knew that he was a great Jazz musician but I wasn't too familiar with stuff.

His band was full of some of the best Jazz soloists I've ever heard. Lots of band members took extended solos including Wynton. I was loving every minute of it. What a treat! Everyone in his band is amazing (and not one guitar player :-) I still enjoyed it very much!!

Wow - free! That's awesome. Those guys really know their stuff. It's cool you got to experience that. Did you hang out and talk with any of them afterwards?

To keep each other sharp and challenged, each band member writes an original arrangement of a song, usually very challenging to play for some of the others. The others later get revenge with their own arrangement.

Wynton is incredible musician and jazz historian.
