View Full Version : Fixing a Vox Wah

I bought a 2nd hand Vox Wah some years ago, and have had no problems.

Until..

I dug it back out of the closet where it was hiding, to discover that when I now use it, after a while it appears to be picking up radio signals and routing them through my amp!

Pretty cool for some avant garde prog sessions. But at the moment I just want it to wah-wah to order with no nasty suprises.

Does anyone know what is likely to be wrong with it? And if so what I can do to fix it?

Cheers

Change the guitar cables first and see if the problem goes away. Those are some big antennas.

+1 what Spud said.

Failing that, it could be the inductor. Replacements are available on eBay. If the worst comes to the worst, some people completely replace the board as an upgrade. The stock boards do come up at auction as a straight drop in replacement.

bad/loose grounding?

if you tap the metal casing (i assume its metal casing?) do you hear a pop or crackle through the amp?

Finally got round to getting some higher quality cables this weekend. It's done the job superbly.

Thanks guys
