Well, on the news just of late, in Moscow some homeless people have been caught eating each other and even selling some meat of their folk...and the recent thread on zombie films, I thought how about this peek into the moral standards of the group here.

Would you eat human flesh?

I suppose I would put myself in the same category as the rugby players/Andes survivors portrayed in the book and movie "Alive".

I read that book at least a few times as a kid and considered that question. I thought the reasoning they recorded in the book was sound.

Let's take this question a step further.

Would you bust up your "go to" guitar for firewood to cook up your dinner?

Ahh, now the decisions become a little more difficult.

Oh now you are getting too crazy!! :what :crazyguy :help

I suppose if I was in the Andes survivors situation and all other options were gone, and a fire was necessary to survive.

I'll eat humans only if a proper wine is available.

The Python boys had some fun with cannibalism:

I wouldn't, but there are people I'd volunteer to be eaten.

Human flesh is called 'long pork' in Papua New Guinea where it used to be common to eat people.

BTW, I used to have a bumper sticker for years that said 'I'd rather be a cannibal than a vegetarian' :-)

Right here and now, I think I'd pass on a human flesh snack.
My morality would argue to resist a meaty main course of man-flesh, even in a survival situation.

However, I think the phrase "NOTHING can prepare you... " etc may possess more than a tiny modicum of truth.

So until actually faced with the do or die situation in reality, I think it'd be almost impossible for anyone to pre-empt even their own final decision from the comfort of their modern life of ease and convenience. The survival instinct may be less prevalent and visible in today's society. Modern culture affords us the great luxury to possess morals and ethics. But don't get me wrong, here, I'm not saying everyone will automatically be drawn towards the 'eat' category. There may be a few who might answer that they would have a welcome nosh-up, but who would ultimately decide not to when faced with the bare situation...

(Lord of the Flies, anyone?)

I'm with M.F.K. Fisher: I wouldn't consider cannibalism because most people's diets aren't conducive to producing good meat. But given a healthy 15- or 16-year old, raised on good dairy products and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, hmmm...

cannibalism obviously has its sinister and cult side.

like the freak dude on "the Farm" in Sin City.
