Do any of you have recommendations for a good tremolo pedal?

I've been yearning for one for some time but I'm now going to get off my butt and get one. I was planning on getting a used Boss TR-2, but then I came across the Electro Harmonix Wiggler and made me think otherwise.

It's got a vintage vibe is just amazing and the tones it can produce are just seductive! This pedal is tube driven and commands a steep $189 price tag. That's almost $100 more than I can currently afford. If I have to bite the bullet to get one I will, but before I do I want to check with all of you to see if there are more affordable pedals with a similar tone that I may be overlooking.

Here's a demo (http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/media/product/video/153320.wmv) of the Wiggler and some sound clips (http://www.stevesmusiccenter.com/EHWiggler.html) to hear it for yourselves. I'm warning you... if you listen to these sound clips I swear you'll fall under its spell. Could I be suffering from PAS? (does that even exist?) ;)

Thanks for the warning... I didn't listen. My wallet and wife thank you as well.

My friend, you have coined a new term. But does that mean if you crave both guitars and pedals you PAS GAS?:D

Electro-harmonix makes good stuff, but has always been out of my league, price wise. There have got to be other manufacturers that get close to that sound with a lower cash outlay involved. I had an old Morley phaser pedal that weighed a ton, but had a sorta tremelo type sound to it if you messed with the knobs enough. Got it at a pawn shop for next to nothing, as they didn't know what they had (pre Internet) *sigh* Unfortunately, after years of playing, it died. I miss that tone...:D

I agree that the Wiggler pedal is perfect!

But the best pedal for its money is Danelectro's Tuna Melt. It costs less than 30€ (~$38) and it has a very good mellow sound...
I have it and I love it !! ;)

If you have the chance of trying it, do it!

The disadvantage is its casing that is made of cheap plastic, and the fact that the knobs are a bit small.

By the way, for all of you that like EHX pedals, check these videos:

where Peter Stroud shows off all EHX pedals ;)

I like the Holy Grail reverb pedal and the English Muff'N tube overdrive pedal. The first lick on the Muff'N demo was sweet sounding.
