One thing I have been doing a lot of lately is using the clean channel on my AmpTramp and using OD/Boost pedals for my main OD sound verses normally using my Plexi channel for drive. It has been a lotta fun and works great especially when kicking on two pedals for lead tones. I worked up a clip last night using the clean channel on my AmpTramp with my JV Strat and all OD sounds from various pedals and combinations of some.

Here's a breakdown

0:00 - Clean sound
0:13 - Bad Monkey - gain noon, level noon, treble maxed, bass noon.
2:14 - Bad Monkey - gain 2 o'clock, level noon, treble noon, bass noon
3:16 - Bad Monkey - gain full, everything else the same
4:06 - OCD - HP mode, gain 3 o'clock, level 9 o'clock, tone noon
4:13 - OCD (same) + Bad Monkey (gain 11 o'clock, level 1 o'clock)
4:55 - ZenDrive (I forgot my settings)
5:00 - ZenDrive + Bad Monkey
5:52 - OCD + BeanoBoost (Level 11 o'clock)
6:45 - OCD + Wylde OD (level 11 o'clock, gain 11 o'clock, tone noon

There you have it. Nevermind my sloppy playing, but it demos some sool OD sounds all from pedals into a tube amp on clean.

Nate - I like the drive of the OCD by itself but the switch to the Monkey in conjunction with the OCD was quick. I'd really like to hear just the OCD alone with the neck pickup. What were your amp's tone settings for this demo?

Also the ZenDrive has my attention. I've been listening to the demo clips of the unit and it sounds "believeable" on a clean tube amp. Can you do a version of the ZenDrive alone with no other pedals too? One of the OCD and one of the Zen. :)

Edited to ask this question : How long did you have to wait to get your ZenDrive? Or did you pay up the wazoo on Ebay to get one sooner?

Yup I'll tell you what, I'll look through my clips tomorrow and see, I know I have some of just the OCD. But not with the Strat. I also have some Zendrive clips alone, with my Tele and SX Les Paul. I'll PM, or post them here. If they aren't great I'll try and work up new clips when I can.

As for the ZenDrive. I ordered mine from a dealer (I forgot the name) back last November, and got the pedal after about a 3-4 month wait at the $150 price they were at then. Well worth the wait. It generates one of my favorite tones outta my rig. As for EQ on the amp. My typical setup for clean is preamp - 3, bass - 5, mids - 6, treble - 8, master 7.

Hope that helps. Stay tuned tomorrow AM ;)

Ok tone2thebone......I found a few clips for you.

First up the ZenDrive using the blackfaced channel on my amp and my MW Telecaster.

This clip you'll need to skip through the first half as that is when the ZD is kicked on.

Tele used again

My SX Les Paul copy and ZenDrive

Here's an OCD clip, but not on the clean channel. It's using my Plexi channel and then kicking on the OCD is LP mode, and gain at 3 o'clock for some great OD Les Paul tone. SX Les Paul used again.

My SX LP is upgraded with Pearly Gates pups, RS electronics kit and tonepros bridge and light weight tail piece.

I'll try and work up just an OCD clip with my clean channel for you soon.

Nate - Thank you for those samples. Right off the bat I have to say that the ZenDrive is transparent and thats the sound I like. I don't use pedals much at all because I feel most of them color your sound or take away the amps inherent frequency range response. Both my tube amps have nice enough gain that I don't really need pedals but the ZenDrive is something I wouldn't mind having. I will sometimes use the Bad Monkey pedal (this is one I really like) because in my opinion it beats the pants of Tube Screamers in terms of transparency and realistic overdrive overtones. To me anyway. Everyone hears things differently though. The OCD is similar but I really dig the ZenDrive. Thanks again Nate.
