Hey folks - what do you think about this guitar? I have some questions out to the owner about particulars, including the additional switches - but it seems like a great price. EDIT - asking $350

'This is a custom-built 1965 stratocaster resissue
3 tone Sunburst lacquer finish with a mint green pickguard
The neck is a Custom ordered beauty with a dark ebony fretboard and stainless frets that are smooth as glass.
Custom switches on pick guard give it multiple tonal capabilities.'

I'd guess they are individual on off switches for the three pickups. I've seen pickguards being sold prewired like that on ebay. The hardware looks cheap. Mainly the bridge. Is he just calling it a '65 reissue becaus of the three toned sunburst? Fender's didn't have 22 frets in 1965. If the body and neck were made by a reputable company (Warmoth, etc.) it might be worth it. If not, $350 is plenty to score a used MIM Strat.

If it was legit it would only have 21 frets. I certainly wouldn't purchase it thinking it was the real deal. This guitar looks too tweaked to really be a re-issue.

What Spud said , TJ...........

Looks like a Frankenstrat, built by someone other than Fender.
You can look at this 2 ways.......
"It's not a "real" Fender, it's built out of parts to look like one, the neck, body, etc. are not Fender."
or
"It's a good price for a Fender replica, if it's made of quality parts and hardware."
I'd question the seller about why he's letting it go, and the quality of all the parts used, and build quality. Little things can make a big difference, something that didn't quite line up right when it was built can ruin it, and no Fender warranty to get it fixed. Just looking at the bad things that could happen, not ruin it for you. Buyer beware's all I'm saying.

I could never use a guitar that has "off" as a possible pickup combination.

That's the super strat wiring set-up. GFS has it.

That's a nice replica, I like the ss frets. $350 sounds like a good price, the guy did tell you it was a replica. How does it play?

Thanks for your valuable insight here, guys! I haven't gone to see it and won't at this point - you all saved me a trip and a possible disappointment!

All those cool parts for maybe $300, and yer walkin'?
The ebony neck alone is probably worth the 3.

Somebody's xmas will be xtra happy.

I hear you, but it's just not what I was looking for - I'm sure that someone else will indeed enjoy it. The guy said he 'really didn't know much about it, and couldn't tell me much' - so I didn't get much in the way of answers to my initial questions, or any response to my follow up...

wise move backing away, tj....first thing I noticed was how nicely it fits in the bogus case.
