I'm a little late in posting this. A couple days before Christmas, I noticed a Craigslist guitar that looked cool. I went down to check it out. The kid was asking $80, claimed he was raising funds to work in some ministry in Skid Row. I don't know about all that, but I went down to check it out. The guitar was beat up a bit. It has a massive chip/ding on it, and a couple quarter sized dings on the back. I vacillated. But the guitar seemed solid. I gave him $100 and said good luck with Skid Row (and Merry Christmas).

Driving home, after buying some other Christmas gifts for the family, I decided to stop at a music shop near home to see about a tremolo arm. I don't have any whammy bar guitars and this one was missing the arm. I stopped in with the guitar. The guy behind the counter opened the gig-bag...and started getting very animated after he turned the guitar over and saw the 2 quarter-sized dings. Turns out..that guitar was bought at that shop (10 years ago)...and the original owner dropped it down the stairs shortly after he bought it...and tried to claim the warranty that if was a factory defect. The guitar was legendary in the store for that reason...he even called over the other clerk and said "THIS is that guitar I was telling you about!"

The shop guy also told me that a former employee had really, really wanted that guitar, since he was really into The Who and Pete Townsend (whose SG had P90s). Right before that guy had saved up the money to buy it, it sold. He asked me if he could plug it in and play it for a little bit, and I was happy to oblige. So there's a neat little side-story. The guy at the shop told me that the guitar was very solid (ash body) and good quality. He loves Samicks (the place still sells Samicks, now Greg Bennett branded).

I drilled a hole in one of my fingers the day after I got the guitar, so I haven't really been able to go crazy on it, but it stays in tune super well and feels pretty good too. It's got this cool bridge, with rollers, made by Schaller. Sound wise, I'm digging it!

That looks like a fun guitar...but you aren't going to find out for a while I guess. Bummer.:mybad

I'd be all over something like that but I really don't like where they put the jack. I've found that location to be weak and in the way. It's impossible to flip the bar around with a straight plug inserted.

Congrats anyway. I'm sure we'd all love to hear what it sounds like as soon as you can repair.;)

C64, looks like a fun guitar. I love the color of the finish.
