Mine just mysteriously stopped working the other night. I've got about 1300 songs on there, mostly blues, and I'm missing it something fierce.

I tried keeping it plugged in overnight to no avail.

Probably either the battery or the disk, either of which is replaceable. It's up to you whether it's worth it. If it's the disk your data is toast so probably not.

A few iPod repair places (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=ipod+repair+service&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8)

if your songs are all in your itunes library should be no problem to just buy a nice new ipod (3rd gen touch ftw) and sync it.

Plugged it into my computer this morning, and it started charging. Go figure. I did this multiple times the other night with no visible response.

We'll see how it works after the charge. If it goes for just a few minutes, I guess I've located the problem.

I did all that. All I got was a sad-face iPod graphic. I think that's a bad sign.

So it's off to the Apple Store tonight. Hopefully it won't be prohibitive to fix.

Thanks for the suggestions!
