I know that a number of Fretters are gamers, so I just wondered what your game of the year might be? Mine are all on the PS3:
4) Brutal Legend--great game and story if you are a metal head, although some of the pseudo-RTS battles can be a bit confusing at times
3) Dragon Age: Origins--if you want a great story, this one's got it in spades. Throw in an ungodly amount of recorded dialog and gameplay time, and you've got a winner
2) Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time--I'm a big Ratchet fan and this game really is the best of the series. The time-based puzzles add a unique dimension and some of them are really mind-bending. It probably would have been my GOTY if it weren't for the surprise winner:
1) Batman: Arkham Asylum--Here's the thing, I'm not a Batman fan. My closest connection to it is the campy 60s/70s T.V. show. But this game is just spectacularly good. The combat is easy to grasp but difficult to master. It actually uses stealth properly. The voice acting is top-notch. They added a lot of stuff for fanbois without blowing away the casual fans. I never would have guessed it, but B:AA is my GOTY, and it's not really even close.
In the New Year I'm looking forward to ModNation Racers, Force Unleashed II, and the Arkham Asylum sequel.
