....over at General Guitar Gadgets. Specifically, they're selling the Way Huge Red Llama clone kit this month for $40.50:

That's just stupid cheap! I bought one a few months back at the standard $45 price and thought it was a great value then. Check out my thread on that build HERE (http://www.thefret.net/showthread.php?t=13160). Ro3b built one, too, and he likes his very much, as well. It's an easy build and a great sounding pedal--kind of in between an overdrive and a fuzz.

You mention the BYOC website in your other thread. Can you enlighten a newbie, please? Thanks!

Sure. BYOC = Buildyourownclone.com, makers of high quality DIY effects pedal kits based upon various classic effect circuits. Check 'em out:

In addition to building many of these for my own use, I also offer assembled kits for sale, either unpainted or fully finished. You can see some of my work here:

Thanks, voodoo. I'm new at the diy stuff, but see how it could really give me a lot more bang for the buck. Was it you I saw that got a new Hakko soldering station as well? Would you recommend something like that for someone new to that part of the hobby?

Yeah, that was me, but I wouldn't recommend one of those to somebody starting out. Try a pedal kit or two and see if you like it before you start dropping $90 or more on a soldering station. I used these for three years before finally upgrading to the Hakko unit:

Weller 25W Kit (http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=123251-273-SP23LHPK&lpage=none)

Went through three of 'em in that time, but at ~$15 each, that's not bad. Good size for pedal work. Major downside is that they go through tips like Pam Anderson goes through husbands....
