Picked up a '97 Fernandes "Strat" the other day and
she finally rolled in yesterday afternoon. Gave 'er the
once over... New strings, neck adjust, lowered the
action - Waaaaay to high! Got the strings to settle
in and checked the intonation, Right on the money...
Didn't have to touch it. Basically spiffed 'er up and
it's a really cool guitar! It's my first strat type git
and so far so good... More used to 'buckers and the
pickups on this are factory. A little thin, Not bad tho.

Cool! I always liked the idea of a Fernandes strat, partly due to Billy Joe Armstrong's Blue #1 Fernandes strat copy that he used on their earlier stuff, which I always liked. When I first shopped for an electric back in 2006, I started looking there but ended up with my MIM. Good luck with it settling in for you and with any mods you decide on. If you want to upgrade the pups, GFS (guitar fetish) has lots of options for strats.

Thanks so much! Yeah, I might have to consider an upgrade where
the pups/caps are concerned. I dunno, We'll see..? I really hate to do
anything to it at this point other than regular maintenance. Been
in this state for 13 years, Ya' know.

Yes sir, I actually got real lucky on a, "make me an offer",
deal. Seems like some of these "Ferny's" are becoming purdy
sought after..? I will say as far as this one, It's real well built,
actually a little weighty and it is solid all the way around. Nice
roller nut with it and whomever did it, Did a good job... .02
Thanks!

Of course, Blue wasn't a trad sss Strat, it was/is a Fat Strat with a humbucker in the bridge.

The MIJ Fernandes are the ones that are most sought after.

That said, I have a MIC Ravelle, and it's a great guitar. Congrats on your Strat!

But of course, you are correct sir! I still want a strat or strat copy I can mod up with at least a humbucker in the bridge, or maybe neck and bridge. Partly due to Blue. One of these looks cool for that purpose.
