Long story short- I'm tired of being basically unfit so last month I started back walking, wih a goal of running the annual 5K race in March that my company sponsors to benefit Special Olympics. To make sure I didn't wuss out, I went ahead and signed up for that one, and another one the week before (to give me even more incentive). I've been working on it for a month now and this week I finally reached the 5K mark, running but with one to two minute breaks periodically to make sure I didn't fall over and die. If I can get past that in the next three weeks, great, if not, then I'm not upset about it as long as I keep going. My ultimate goal is at least one 5K race every month. It feels good to be doing something and I'm enjoying it.

So, Robert, your subliminal messaging is working!

(yes, this was a shameless self-pat-on-the-back-and-plea-for-encouragement post....)

Well done! Great news.

I started running 2 years ago with a single 5km race in mind. I'm now training for my first full marathon in April. I think I definitely caught the bug!

Oh and I'll never be as fast as Robert! :(
