Former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren dies at 64

All of the notices I've read refer to him as "Sex Pistols former manager". Yes he was that, but he was so much more.

A good friend of mine wrote a book called "The Look. Adventures in Rock and Pop Fashion". Features some interesting bits about MM. The Look is also a terrific blog. Here's the entry announcing McLaren's passing:

Meh.

I'm the biggest Pistols fan, but I'm not really sad. I'm glad he got them together, but he had zip to do with Rotten's (similar to his own) Situationist views melding with the rest of the band's roots rock outlook.

I honestly don't give a flying **** about him bringing bondage trousers to the buying public, or any of his other purported "fashion" efforts. Viv was always the gal in charge there. Malc was basically a professional bloodsucker. Take as much as possible but give as little as possible in return, and make more than any of the actual performers. And then spend the next 30 years bullshitting about your "contribution."
