View Full Version : Some Frank Gambale - King of Sweep

I used to listen to this guy a lot when I was younger. He is undeniably the King of the sweeping technique. All these shredders guys are very pale in comparison to Gambale's technique.

I personally find it being too much sweeping after a while, but he's got incredible chops, and fantastic vocabulary and ideas of improvising.

I would like to hear him jam with Albert Lee or Brent Mason... wonder how that would sound!

I really just need to sit down and woodshed until I can sweep. I love that technique. You are very right in that Gambale has a much better sense of melody than most.

I had his Hot Lick video. He was wearing leather trousers and a pink Tweety shirt (that yellos little bird). My friends were lauging, but I studied that video, over and over again. Frank is a great player, his playing is definitely not from this earth. I aslo like his Yamaha sig approach with the unsymetric frets. The only thinkg is, I'm missing some melody here...
