Electric blues masters!

// I've been revisiting the complete anthologies of my two favorite bluesmen, John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters.
I enjoy the old stripped down origins, which helps me appreciate the later electric era more.

I dicsovered Albert King back in the mid 60s. He wasn't big then and I purchased a couple of his albums then. The only place I could find them was in my weekly trips to Sam the record man on Yonge street in Toronto. He had a whole floor dedicted to blues. Albert Collins, Freddie King, BB, Muddy, even some Buddy Guy, and JL Hooker. I could buy the albums for 3 bucks then.
I would shop and then catch an act at the Colonial Tavern. Sat about 5 feet from Muddy one might. The Tavern had this really cool set up where the stage was stationary a large portion of the floor rotated like a turntable, with people, tables and all. It was wierd at first. Didn't spend much time there as one beer would cost as much as a whole 24 pack then.
I tried to tell people about these guys and then in the late 80s I heard what I thought was Albert King on regular FM Stations, of course it was SRV and then Albert became famous.
You should hear "The king does the Kings thing" an album where Albert does Elvis Presley's greatest hits. It is really cool!
Lovejoy is another great one where he does a really good "The sky is crying".
I am always totally amazed at how a guy could make an excellent living and become a blues icon with 2 riffs!
