While my new Jackson is fun when I'm in the mood for extreme gain, I've been listening to smooth jazz in the meantime. Have become interested in learning some of it and have been looking for blues/jazz machine.

Enter my weakness...CL and an Ibanez Artcore AG86, with Seymour Duncan Phat Cat in the bridge. $350, excellent condition..perhaps a bit expensive given that it's a 2001 but it played excellent.

Just one thing - it's strung up with 13's..!! I guess that's light gauge for jazz - but it's tough to bend I know that!

Here's a couple pics, love the inlays in the neck:

Now to ban myself from CL as I have enough stuff already lol!

hahaha. Good luck. I'm a CL addict too. There's some nice Artcores used at the GC near where I work. I've never owned a hollow body. THey are so tempting.

I would think the age is a plus in some ways, stable and woody tone and all that?

Newbie just thinking aloud here...

Probably true - I haven't found too many guitars I want to keep for an extended period of time (always find something i don't like) so I don't have personal experience in the aging factor.

Time will tell - hopefully I like it enough to ignore any shortcomings I find and keep it. It plays very nice and sounds good too. Going to get it setup and fresh strings, I bet it'll be a true beauty after that.

Cross your fingers for me. Ibanez Artcore for $65, with a bad input jack. LEt's see if the seller responds.

Looks sweet! One thing I can't figure out is how to get at the electronics in these things!

Beleive it or not it all goes through the F holes.
How is the feedback with the P90 and semi hollowbody?

I'm pretty sure it's full hollow, but I am new to this type of guitar so I might be wrong. I just checked the post and the guitar has an anti-feedback block installed...WTH is that? Is feedback normally a problem with these guitars?

I like Ibanezes and that one looks like a real winner.

I think we'll be needing a tone report when available.:digit

They howl if used with too much gain. Just the effect of a large hollow resonating chamber. Ted Nugent used to use this to great effect with his fully hollow Gibson Byrdland. I used it to disastrous effect with an Epiphone Casino and way back in the 70s a Framus Golden Television (honest) :(

^^ lol!

Tone report - need to get some recording gear in place, but through my new fender blues junior it sounds fantastic...although strangely I'm not a fan of the SD phat cat P-90 in the bridge. I think I'd prefer a full humbucker. Either way it sounds great and I'm very happy with the guitar after the setup, new strings and pairing it up with that amp.
