Has anyone tried the twentififth anniversary PRS superstrat yet?

I played one yesterday and it was awesome.

I'm presently planning on buying a MIM Tele standard during the Fourth of July sales that are going on.

However I would consider a PRS twentififth anniv. superstrat Korean made for sure. Very great tone and playability for a simple guitar. Has the control layout of a LP. Simple layout flat top but awesome playing and sounding.

I have several cheap strats and a new Fender Am Std sss strat. A fat strat would be a welcome addition to my upgraded collection. I have been considering the Fender Lone Star.

So it is a choice, at least preliminarily of:

The MIM Tele Std
The Fender Lone Star fat strat
The PRS 25th Anniv. superstrat

Any suggestions on these?

My leaning is toward the MIM std tele because my only other Fender tele is my new Nashville tele which I like a lot, but would enjoy a classic tele.

My leaning at this point is that I would rather get a MIM tele std than a Squier CV tele, for several reasons. Basically I think the MIM is a better guitar and it's something that I think I will enjoy more and will be able to make upgrades on easily.

Any input?

Hey, Duffy, can you provide a link to the PRS superstrat? I'm unfamiliar with that model...

I think I will stick with the MIM telecaster or Lone Star.

Mediocre reviews by far.

Gotcha, Duffy...

Why the MIM Tele and Lonestar, if you don't mind me asking?

I'd give the PRS a second shot... They really are fantastic guitars.

Katastro,

A store by me just started carrying PRS guitars. Mostly the affordable SE models and such. I played a couple. The twentififth aniv. I think it is super strat sounded pretty good, but not as good as the White Fender MIM std telecaster I bought when I was in Nashville a few days ago. Also I saw a guy picking out a guitar for his kid and he was grooving on a white Epi SG set neck but he wound up getting the LP styled PRS SE type in white instead. I just didn't think the PRS was as nice, but to each their own.

On the Korean PRS's, it's written in bold letters very prominently on the guitar that the guitars are made by such and such musical instrument company "for" PRS in Korea. It is like a very distinguishable disclaimer that these ARE NOT real PRS guitars. It screamed, "Call me second rate!". I thought that was a LOT overkill.

Also, I played a LP Jr type PRS import with one real nice looking P90. Very beautiful guitar, but it just didn't sound like the P90s on my Squier Telecaster Custom II that are very nice sounding duncan designed ones.

Far from a guitar expert, I just seem to like the Epiphone's I mentioned above better than the particular import PRS ones I tried; although that blue super strat aniv. one I played was a great sounding guitar. It had a flat top and nice finish, curly maple of some type, and no binding on the body anyway. I certainaly wouldn't scoff at it.

I also really like that new white MIM Fender tele I bought at GC on the forth of July sale in Nashville.

Didn't see any stars or major muscians there and I went there twice while I was down there. Nice big store though and I really liked the deal they had on the Gibson satin black, fadedish type SG with a hard shell case for 649, no affln.

They also had a ltd run, I think, Fender fat strat, all gloss black with black gloss guard and black pups and controls; chrome hardware; looking very cool. Priced at 499, no affln. I would rather hold out for a Lone Star with the Pearly gates and Texas Specials.

I have a 1996 (I think) 50th Anniversary Lone Star Strat. I had to raise the poles on the Texas Specials to get a leetle more volume and the SD Pearly Gates just sparkles. The neck plays like butter.

Having said that I also have a PRS SE made in Korea, in mahogany satin. They're two different instruments. The Lone star's neck is wider and is a longer scale length. Of course, the tones are different as well. I wouldn't part with any of them.
