I have finally had it with house PAs! I need a solid acoustic amp for small bars and clubs (up to 150 people) I am going to take a trip down to GC this weekend and just curious what my fellow fretters like, kind of an outline of where to start. I am also on a budget, trying to find something under $300 but might be willing to spend $400 for that special tone that gets my shorts wet.

I've played through one of these before:

Pretty nice, almost bought one, but then I got the Cube 60 the new version of which is the Cube 80:

If i need acoustic I either go through the PA or use the acoustic setting on the amp with whichever electric I'm using. Its not great but it works. The other settings on the Cube are fantastic though.

I have a fender super champ XD, it has an acoustic voicing but i am not a huge fan of the tone my acoustic has through it. Last night i played a gig and the house PA was cutting in and out and just sounded horrible. Granted it wasnt the roxy but I was really uncomfortable playing when i sounded that bad to myself. The clientele didnt seem to notice but i was in agony all night. I decided about 1/2 hour into the set that I was going to get a decent acoustic amp before my next unplugged gig, which fortunatly isnt until the middle of august.

I second what Monkus said; I have a Cube 60, and I plugged in my Ibanez AE last night. It was the first time I'd used the Cube as an acoustic amp, and it worked pretty well. I used both the "Acoustic" setting, and the JC Clean channel. I'm not sure which I prefer, but they both sound decent.
