View Full Version : Parallel wiring for pups. . .

A lot of people use parallel wiring for pups as an alternative to coil-shunts due to their humbucking qualities. . .

I like my alternate wirings, so I was messing around with a few of my guitars and, maybe it's just me, but parallel wiring seems to lack the quack of single-coils.

Has anyone else noticed this? Does anybody here have any specific preferences regarding these sort of wirings?

Cheers

Joe

This may be a stupid question, but isn't parallel the norm for pickup wiring, and series the alternative?

He's referring to the two coils within a humbucker being wired in parallel, rather than in series, which is the standard.
