I've played guitar in the past, and i've recently got the bug to jump in it again, but this time i'm a little older and i don't have a one track mind.I used to think metal was the only way to play guitar.I have seen the light over the last few years, and i'm ready to play.I'm going either today or tomorrow to get a whole new set-up.Not exactly sure what i'm gonna get,but i do have an idea.Fender has a nice little amp i'd like to get. It's the Frontman 25r.It seems like a decent lttle starter amp.As far as the guitar i'm not for sure.More then likely it will be a Squier Strat or Tele.Which model i'm not for sure on that either, but i do know i want either a blonde or daphne blue colored one. Will update with picks after i make the purchase.Oh yeah,my sound i'm trying to go after is like a blusey metal if you can understand that.

Don't be afraid to look at used gear. Craig's List is LOADED with squiers and beginner amps.

I like the Frontman 25r, I play one at rehearsal sometimes.

Hi Stuggy -- welcome to thefret.net. What sort of music do you listen to/what are you interested in playing?

One bit of advice: if I were to do it all over again, I personally would have solicited opinions before buying gear. There's a lot of solid advice on here, and listening before buying could have saved me a lot of wheeling and dealing. That said, good luck with your purchases. Buying gear is fun.

I gonna buy the amp new,and buy a guitar used, unless i can't find exactly what i'm looking for.I listen to all kinds of music, mostly metal though, but i like all styles of guitar playing. At the moment i've been listening to alot of John 5.I've got all his solo albums, and the Marilyhn Manson and Rob Zombie albums he's played on.I also listen to stuff from S.R.V. to country to death metal.

Edit: Take your time researching your next purchases before you jump in and you might be glad you did. We are cursed/blessed with sooo many choices!
Don't overlook craig's list, etc.

Well,I got me a new set-up.I got a new 2010 Squier Bullet Strat h-s-s.I was amazed at how well they played. The guitar is super easy to play.I got the Bullet that way I got a good foundation to start with for cheap. Now i can start buying stuff to mod it with.I found a almost brand new Fender Frontman 25r with footswitch for $78 at a local pawn shop.I got a Zoom 707II multi-effects pedal for $30 off craigslist.I also got a little better bridge pup. It's a Duncan Performer Detonator for the bridge.First thing i niced when i got home is that the tuning knobs are going to be replaced very soon.I'm taking pics now so i'll post them up later before i gotta go to school.Oh yeah,it's got what they call Artic White finish, but it looks vintage blond to me.Which is the color i really was after anyway.Well either that or Daphne blue, and those only come on the three single pup set-up.

Here's a pick off the stock pup.

It's replace a $40 Duncan Performer Detonator. It's a good cheap pup for the heavier playing i like to do.

Here's a my new to me,but it's practically brand new amp.Fender Frontman 25r with footswitch. It's not the red covered one i wanted, but i got both for $75 at a local pawnshop.Never mind the messy room.

Next is the Zoom 707II

I'm gonna be replacing the tuners next, cause the ones on there aren't worth a crap.I'm thinking of replacing all the chrome with black hardware, with black pups, and a black pickguard.I'm getting rid of all the pretty chrome.I think i'm gonna call it the Dirty Blonde.Even though they call it Artic White.

Welcome, Stuggy!

That Detonator should be good for your taste in music. I have one on a Tom Delonge Strat (Squier version) I'm in the process of selling.
