In a just for fun kinda way! What brand/gauge strings do you use?

I'll start. Electric, Ernie Ball Purple package(.11-.48)
Acoustic, Elixir nanowebs, .13's

I've gone from pricey strings to cheap yet almost as good bulk strings from http://www.webstrings.com/ acoustic ($3.24) and electric ($2.99).
I like getting 3 or 4 sets for what 1 set runs from the big names, especially when most strings are made by the same few factories.

10-46's on all electrics
12-53's phosphor bronze acoustics

Ernie Balls Regular Slinky, D'Addario EXL140s (10s), got some Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms for my Ibby, that I haven't put on yet.

Dunlop 13-54s for C-Standard to Drop-A (currently use Rotosound 13s but I'm replacing them with Dunlops when I get my next set).
Ernie Ball Earthwood 12s on my acoustic.

I used to use Elixer 9's or 10's on electric. Now I pretty much get what's on sale and change strings more often, at least on the ones I play the most. I also use Fast Fret, Fret Ease, etc. And wipe 'em down good when I finish playing.

D'Addario 10-46s on all electrics, same brand 12-53 phosphor bronze on my J45 and 13-56 phosphors on the little Larrivee parlour guitar (it needs the extra tension due to the 24" scale).

GHS boomers (11s) on electrics, though I just put some Ernie Ball hybrids or something on my Godin.

Don't really have a preference on acoustic. I have had Elixers for a while, and I think I still have a pack of nanowebs in the basement, but I'll usually use whatever I have around, provided they're 12s.

Rogue bulk sets from Musician's Friend. 10-46 guage. I believe they are made by Martin. They've been real consistent for the past 20 years and I pay less than $3 per set.

Same for electrics. So far, my acoustic has Martin (80-20 Bronze) lights on it. I have a set of DR High Beams in the same size to try, as well as a D'Addario Bluegrass (Lt. Top/Med. Bottom, .012 - .056) to try as well for my acoustic. I am pretty happy with my electric set up, and am fine with my normal acoustic set up too, but just want to experiment a little there.

I use either D'Addario .12s "Pure Blues" or Ernie Ball Hybrid .09s.

My acoustic I use D'Addario .12s or whatever my Ovation came with depending on who I'm strumming.

Another 10-46 D'Addario user here. I do have a set of 9's on one of my Strats, when the occasion calls for mega-bends.

Whatever they have as singles, I almost always buy custom sets.

Like 09-11-17-32-40-50 etc.

So some strings could be Rotosounds, some D'Addarios, some GHS...don't really seem to matter none.

Been considering starting to use .10 starting lite top hwy bottom on my V though...I have .11 to 52 on it now and the highs are a tad heavy for playing leads.

But, all in all, whatever the store happens to have, I don't find that much difference in them I'd care. There are some, though, for instance Ernie Ball Slinkies indeed felt somewhat more 'slinky' than normal strings to me.

Sometimes I change it up and use D'Addario, Dean Markley, or GHS but my goto strings are Ernie ball slinkys...10's for electric and 13's for acoustic.

I use DR, D'darrio, Slinky's on my electrics and have heard that using Slinky's on tremolo guitars is not a good idea because they are too elastic, don't know how true it is. Also don't know if these strings above are made by the same company.

Lately using Martin Phosphor Bronze instead to the 80/20 bronze for a more mellow tone, but have used other acoustic brands as well. I have tens on my Seagull S6 and 13's on my jumbo acoustic electric. On one of my other acoustics I have those Martin's with the silk incorporated into the string and they sound good and mellow.

I use 9's almost exclusively on my electric guitars, even teles.

New strings can make a BIG difference in tone.

All 10's. Right now it's RotoSounds on most of them. Some D'addarios as well.

I find that the most important thing, regardless of the brand or gauge, is to always wipe them down with a sausage immediately after stringing. Wait a minute..., wrong thread... :thwap :D

Always GHS Boomers. But I go back and forth between 9s and 10s. Currently, I'm setup for the standard 9-11-16-24-32-42 on my main guitars.

Like Doug, and a bunch of others here, I've switched to Webstrings. I have zero complaints about them. Generally I use 10-46s, although I have some 10-42 sets, and some 9-46 sets. My next experiment is to try the flatwounds on my Epi Flamekat.
