One of the really cool things about parenthood, amongst a very long list, is the mutual love of music that parents and kids can share.

Obviously, the younger your kids are, the more one-way the exchange is. But as they get older, if you've invested the time and the passion to get them excited about music, they can begin to repay the favor.

Today my son hipped me to this:

lLJf9qJHR3E

That in itself is cool enough. But what pushed it over the top for me, is that he described the music for me before I listened to it, and the kid absolutely NAILED it. In a single sentence.

The kid's 13.

"It's like the Swaggerin' Growlers [Boston Irish/acoustic/punk band that Crash Pad played with], only less rock, and more Scottish." The band is actually from London, but have been very favorably received (I'm sure he did not know this) in Scotland:

For comparisons sake, here's a link to the Swaggerin' Growlers:

That's really cool. I heard of this band, actually, today, my bestfriend was telling me about this song, so that is quite a coincidence. But that's neat coming from a parent's perspective and experience. Sounds like you got a bright thirteen year old their who is only going to learn more about music. Already has good taste as far as I can tell.
