Legendary soul singer Solomon Burke died today at age 70.

Burke was one of the masters of early R&B/soul, though he never quite broke through to the mainstream like Otis or Pickett or Sam Cooke.

Whether or not you knew who Burke was, many of you probably know this song of his...

Oh man, Solomon had several great songs! Heard him once on American Routes, sounded like a real down-to-earth kinda guy. Too bad he didn't make it to a household name like so many others, but he was great.

I figured it was only a matter of time. Was he just obese or did he have some other issues going on?

So far, all the articles simply say "natural causes" but I would have to believe his weight contributed in some way to his demise.

Wow great folks seemed to be going home a lot this year.
My great uncle was a big fan of his music. This was the 1st I heard of this.
