I rember when these guys hit it big. There was alot of anticipation of the debut album around these parts. The band while listed from Louisville Kentucky had alot of members from Southern Indiana actualy if memory serves me correct Meeks himself is a Hoosier or well was. At the times of the first album by these guys. The local scene was booming. The local bands was filling venues just as good or better than most signed acts. Alot of people was upset that Days of the New was the one that got signed. Because most felt they wasnt the best band of the day. Looking back on it, they probably got the deal for being a little unique. Its not everyday you see a grunge/hard rock band who play acoustics over electrics. I was told that Meeks fired all the local boys as soon as they hit the studio. Which didnt go over well, I know he fired some because I knew the true orginal bass player. If the second album would of had some hits on it to follow up the debut album, who knows maybe it would of started a trend and let to a few more bands getting signed from the area. We'll never know, but I rember the vibe around here with the commerical success of the bands debut album. Most to all of those bands are gone now. A few left over guys here and there. One of the best bands still going....Shatterstone.... http://shatterstone.com/ ...The boy on bass is one of the most talented musicians around. He can shread a guitar just as good as anyone, but loves the bass.

I remember hearing them when they came out. I didn't think they were bad. The acoustics just struck me as being a gimmick though. I remember hearing that the singer fired the rest of the band right after they started to get MTV play.
