Hey Guys

I've been trying to spend a bit more time practicing my scales lately. Really understanding them and knowing them well. But when you stop and think about it the number of scales you accumulate can build up pretty quickly, as each different scale will have it's 5 (caged) shapes, etc. And practicing in different ways can give different benefits...improved picking, speed, knowledge, etc, etc.

At the moment, I usually run some different patterns on the 5 Major scale shapes. Straight up/down, playing in 3rds, 3 in a line, etc. And for the maj/min pentatonic and blues scales I pick a position (caged) and play all the scales in that position and see how they interact. (But I just play these up and down, no other patterns...any better ideas?)

But I'm not sure if this is the best/most efficient way to practice scales and was curious to know how you guys do it.

So how do you practice your scales?
