I like both versions of Snow Patrol's song run. Leona is a chartbreaker with that song, but most people don't know it's a cover :-)

Thanks Spud. That's among my favorite Harrison songs and I'd not heard that cover. I'll have to check out more of their stuff.

This is a cool thread. Love the Greenday version SVL! I think my favourite version of "I fought the law" is probably the DK's though, I actually knew that version before I heard the Clash.....

So off the top of my head here's some I've enjoyed..

I think we all know this one..

tCvMKcNJCAY

...and a recent live performance of the cover!

I first heard these guys way back in '94 with the mighty, mighty Robert Trujillo on bass, but this version is still totally decent :)

U2VsaBiBQlw

Also, for anyone who watched that, shouldn't there be a wah somewhere for that guitar sound? Could an autowah do that or am i right off track?

And one more that always makes me smile (the cover I mean)....

Original

0fd7s5d_nhQ

The Ramones with Traci Lords on backup vocals!

X6-qT6dLMz0

Traci Lords singing on a track called "Somebody to Love" always makes me smile.
It takes me back to those heady days before the internet was so widespread. A simple time when VHS was king, and owning an original copy of a certain film made you a "lord" amongst your teenage peers.

And just for giggles, the Slade original:

The, perhaps more well known, Quiet Riot cover:

And now, just to make it even weirder, Oasis:

Bobby Fuller was certainly a famous version in '65, but the Crickets in '59 were the originals, sans Buddy Holly after his death. Great song that has been covered many, many times!

No worries. Most people seem to think Bobby Fuller was the original. I just like for folks to remember the Crickets. :thumbsup

Though I've always appreciated the original musically, I thought the lyrics were a bit on the trite side. These covers eliminate that issue.

For the remaining twenty minutes of the ABB song, see YouTube, or better yet, get yourself a copy of Eat a Peach because no music collection is complete without one.
