While not exactly the Blueshawk, this at least lets us know someone at Gibson hasn't lost sight of what many players are looking to own.
The $2299 list price limits the prospective buyers, though.

Nitrocellulose finish, Burstbucker 1 & 2 humbuckers with a blade in the middle, String through body...

Finally something to look forward to! The Nighthawk is an excellent guitar. I remember the first run. Tried it out at the local guitar shop and it was one of the best guitars I have ever played! Unfortunately, I still went to school at that time and couldn't afford it. If the guitar bears the same quality points as back in 1992 (which I doubt, sorry) it's a great instrument.

Sweet! I love the Nighthawk, especially the older one with the mini humbucker.

I liked the Nighthawk when it came out back in the early 90's (I still do). They didn't sell very well but I liked the fact that it had a Strat-like 25.5 inch scale. For a couple years you could pick up a used one on Ebay for like $500 bucks. Their prices have increased greatly in the last few years. I do think Gibson should have reissued these at a lower price point. If it hits the streets at more that $1200, I think that's just too much.

Well, well...from the Firebird X ThrowUP to the '99 disco'd NightHawk ThrowBACK...here's a couple of links to the past from a Hawk enthusiast's site I found when I had my dearly departed '99 BluesHawk...poke around once there and there's a lot of detail:

Yep, it's a beautiful guitar. I love the shape. $2200 list is too high, though. I bet it'll street out at about $1599 or so.

Dear Gibby,

Put this shape in some solid and/or faded finishes, lose the quilted maple top and binding. Sell 'em for $799, and watch 'em fly out the door. You'll have an awesome shape that could be a direct American Fender competitor and a PRS killer, too, as you could offer a well built, cool looking, American guitar for less than the PRS X trimmed guitars.

Thanks.

(But what do I know... I'm just a guitar playing dude that knows what he likes and wants...)

Heh, I just posted in another thread about how I broke a neck off one of the original series. Nice guitar, yeah, only I never liked the 5-way switch much.
