Porter Pickups - have you tried them? I am getting the 50's set to put in my old Mexican Squier Strat. I have heard good things about them and I'll soon find out. :dance

Hand Wound Every pickup from Porter Pickups is handwound. We have no currently plans to ever change from making hand wound pickups. Part of this is tradition in making pickups how they used to be made, and part of it is the advantages it can offer the customer to have a pickup custom wound specifically for them, tailored to their styles and with the materials we beleive will best acheve what they are looking for. We feel that our process of hand winding pickups results in a truly custom product, which also has our touch put into each pickup we make.

Those look nice and after listening to the clips of the 60s Strat pickup have to say that they sound nice as well, but...I have a hard time justifying $60 for one single coil pickup. To me it seems a bit much. I'm not saying they they aren't worth it, just that it's a bit much for me.

Last night, I installed the Porter '50s set, and the Mojotone pre-wired Strat Blender assembly in my old Squier Strat.

I also put in a good Fender bridge, which our friend Otaypanky so kindly donated to me!

Boys and Girls - this cheap guitar now sounds FANTASTIC!

I couldn't believe it! I had to go look for my jaw, because I instantly dropped it when I plugged into my Marshall.

I need to make you guys a video real soon. These pickups are so sweet sounding - better than my Fender CS '54s.

The Mojotone Blender assembly is awesome too. I can blend in the bridge pickup with the neck pickup, and vice versa. I have that on my Suhr too and love it. That way, I can get the bridge pickup sounding more like the neck, which is perfect for me. I like to blend about 50%, so I still have some bite from the bridge pup, but also some sweetness from the neck pickup.

I am HAPPY with this guitar now! A perfect blues guitar. These pickups sound more vintage than my Suhr pickups.
